Westinghouse Buys Tesla Electric Light & Manufacturing Company

Here’s a significant historical artifact. Dated December 13, 1888, this letter confirms the transaction that brought Nichola Tesla into association with the Westinghouse Electric Company.

Thanks to Pamela Westinghouse for passing along this letter, the original of which can be found found at the Tesla Museum in Belgrade, Serbia.

However, the transaction triggered a suit against Tesla, when his former partners wanted a share of the revenue it generated and its future earnings, as reported in this item from The New York Times on February 9, 1889.
