How Westinghouse Managed a Million

George Westinghouse could be a shrewd financial manipulator, asevidenced by two short articles published in The New York Times.

The first, published on December 27, 1890 reported on how Westinghouse had successfully raised $1,000,000 in needed loans, despite being turned away by eastern bankers. It also provides an accounting of the balance sheets of the other Westinghouse companies.

Then exactly one year later, this brief item on December 26, 1891 recalled the incident and how he had out manuvered the board of his own company, Westinghouse Air Brake.
