The War of the Currents between Westinghouse and Edison heated up in the months leading up to the Chicago World’s Fair.

As reported in this brief item from The New York Times of December 26, 1892, Edison Electric sued to prevent Westinghouse from using incandescent light bulbs it claimed violated its patents.

Westinghouse’s response, also mentioned in the article, was to ramp up production of a new bulb which didn’t infringe on the Edison patents.
