Lowell Thomas Tours Westinghouse Home of the Future - 1934
In the early 1930’s, seeking to promote the use of electricity in the home and the wide array of domestic devices its engineers were developing, Westinghouse Electric constructed its “Home of the Future” in Mansfield, Ohio, where the company’s merchandising division was centered.
In 1934, Westinghouse produced this 30-minute movie tour of the home with Lowell Thomas as guide.
In addition to providing a glimpse of the future seen from nearly a century ago, Thomas’ tour offers interesting insights into idealized life back then.

There’s also a 36-page catalog of Westinghouse products featured in the tour on the NCOIM Facebook page.
Kudos to Jerry Miller and the North Central Ohio Industrial Museum for tracking down the movie and catalog.
